Long-distance and ultra running demand more equipment, but carrying more should not mean repeatedly removing your vest or unpacking everything to find one essential item.

The INSTINCT X provides 3L more capacity than the INSTINCT EVOLUTION 7L. Its additional storage includes a large 4L U-shaped zipped compartment, multiple rear-access pockets and extensive storage across the shoulder straps. At 297g, X is designed to carry the additional hydration, nutrition, waterproofs, spare layers and safety equipment needed for longer training sessions, mountain routes and ultra-distance events while remaining compact and close to the body.

Choose between the standard INSTINCT X 10L and the understated X 10L Black Edition. Both colourways use the same 10L construction, pocket arrangement, hydration options and adjustment systems. Simply select your preferred version from the product options.

A stable, highly adjustable fit

X sits high on the body, helping to keep its contents stable, balanced and close to your centre of movement. Two sternum straps move independently along 20cm sliders, providing vertical and horizontal adjustment. INSTINCT’s double-S elastic side-lacing can be tightened or relaxed while running, helping the one-size vest accommodate different body shapes and changes in clothing layers.

Its low-contact construction allows freedom of movement and helps avoid restrictive pressure across the chest. Lightweight honeycomb mesh encourages ventilation and moisture dispersal during sustained efforts.

Choose your hydration system

Two high-mounted front hydration pockets each accommodate containers up to 650ml. Elastic compression cords with auto-locks hold the containers securely and can be tightened as their contents are consumed.

ICEGRIPPER supplies the X with 2 x 600ml soft flasks, providing 1.2L of immediately accessible front-mounted hydration.

For longer and more remote routes, the rear compartment is compatible with a hydration bladder of up to 2L, giving you the flexibility to select the hydration arrangement that best suits your distance and conditions.

The shoulder straps provide extensive storage for hydration, nutrition, a phone and other frequently used essentials.

Two 600ml front pockets hold food, gels and race nutrition, while two extra-large zipped pockets provide secure, accessible storage for a smartphone, keys or other valuables. A separate 150ml zipped shoulder pocket incorporates a safety whistle and an internal retaining loop for smaller essentials.

At the rear, separate upper, lower, side-access and main compartments help organise waterproofs, spare clothing, gloves, headtorches and safety equipment. The upper horizontal pocket allows a rain jacket to be reached without removing the vest.

A large compartment for bulky kit

The 4L main compartment uses a wide U-shaped zip opening, making it easier to pack, organise and retrieve larger items.

This dedicated space is particularly useful for spare clothing, mandatory race equipment and winter kit that would overwhelm a smaller running vest. Separate surrounding pockets prevent frequently used items from becoming buried beneath the main load.

Running poles can be carried vertically at the front on either side, horizontally across the back or vertically at the rear.

X is also compatible with the INSTINCT Ergo Quiver for runners who prefer a dedicated quick-access pole system. Ergo Quiver sold separately.

The 10L capacity makes X particularly suitable for winter trail running and exposed routes where additional equipment may be required.

There is room for waterproof clothing, gloves, a headtorch, spare batteries, emergency layers, extra nutrition and compact winter traction. Quick-access pockets allow layers to be added or removed as conditions change without completely unpacking the vest.

Always carry ice grips, running spikes or micro-crampons inside a separate protective storage bag. This prevents their metal points from damaging the vest, soft flasks or other equipment.
