Which Olang Winter Boots Should I Choose? A Guide to the ICEGRIPPER Olang Range

Which Olang Winter Boots Should I Choose? A Guide to the ICEGRIPPER Olang Range

Choosing between Olang winter boots is less about finding one “best” model and more about deciding what kind of winter footwear suits your weather, activity and preferred style.

The current Olang Winter Boots range includes women’s and men’s models with very different personalities: contemporary après-ski styles, practical everyday winter boots, premium leather models and more rugged options for colder conditions.

Many of the models stocked by ICEGRIPPER also incorporate the OCSystem® retractable ice grip directly into the outsole. Where the range differs most is in waterproof protection, upper material, boot height, fastening style, fit and intended use.

This guide concentrates on current models, newer additions and established Olang favourites rather than end-of-line or isolated single-size stock.

Which Olang boot is best for wet UK winters?

For customers who expect regular rain, slush and wet pavements, the first distinction to make is between Olang’s waterproof BTX models and the many TEX/OlanTex models that ICEGRIPPER describes as water resistant rather than fully waterproof.

Brown winter boot with fur lining on a white background. Olang Meribel in Peat, is a classic ankle boot, ideal for every situation and packed full of features, for comfort that you will not want to confine just to winter. Buy now at ICEGRIPPER.

The Olang Meribel BTX OC is one of the strongest women’s starting points. It combines waterproof Breathe.Tex protection, a premium winter construction and integrated OCSystem traction in a relatively versatile ankle-height format. For the British climate, that balance is useful because winter often brings rain and slush as often as deep snow.

Meribel is available in Black and Tan.

For men, the Olang Montreal BTX OC provides the same broad advantage: proper waterproof protection combined with winter insulation and retractable traction.

Best starting points for wetter conditions: Meribel BTX OC for women and Montreal BTX OC for men.

Which Olang boot is best for contemporary winter style?

Olang is unusual because it offers genuine winter functionality without every model looking like technical outdoor footwear.

Olang Praga OC Women's winter Boots with Ice Grips, in Peat. A dark brown suede lace-up winter boot with a thick black lug sole, a textured brown knit ankle collar, and multicolor braided laces in orange, yellow, and white. Right side view.

The newer Praga TEX OC is a strong example. It uses a contemporary, chunkier silhouette while retaining warm winter construction and the OCSystem built into the sole. Praga is available in Black, Clay and Peat, making it one of the easiest models to coordinate with different winter wardrobes.

Olang Stellar OC Women's winter Boots with Ice Grips, in Tan. A brown mid-calf winter boot with a thick brown sole, featuring a thick brown rope laces with white and orange stripes, and a padded collar, shown on a white background. Right side view.

The Stellar TEX OC moves further toward a mid-calf winter profile. It provides more visual presence and lower-leg coverage than a compact ankle boot, while still retaining a fashion-led Olang appearance. Stellar is currently offered in Black, Clay and Tan.

Olang Tanya OC Women's Winter Boots with Ice Grips in Beige. A taupe suede mid-calf winter boot with a thick tan platform sole, featuring a fluffy cream shearling lining, lace fastening detail and gold-tone metal eyelets. Right side view.

The Tanya OC is the more overtly après-ski option. Its warmer, shearling-influenced appearance makes it particularly at home on ski holidays, winter breaks and resort environments where style matters as much as practicality. Tanya is available in Beige, Black and Tan.

If you want the newest-looking part of the Olang range, Praga, Stellar and Tanya are good models to compare first.

Which Olang women’s boots are more classic?

Customers who prefer a more established winter-boot shape have several options.

Ginevra TEX OC combines a refined Italian appearance with built-in winter grip and is a good choice when you want something smarter than a conventional snow boot.

Grace TEX OC has a more traditional winter silhouette and practical side-zip entry. It is a useful everyday choice for customers who value straightforward warmth and functionality.

Nora TEX OC, Musa TEX OC and Lisa TEX OC each occupy slightly different positions within the women’s range, giving customers alternatives in height, detailing and overall styling without moving away from the same core winter proposition.

Which Olang men’s boot should I choose?

The men’s collection ranges from premium leather styles to more obviously practical snow boots.

The Bucefalo OC is one of the longest-standing premium choices. Its classic leather styling gives it a more substantial, traditional appearance than many synthetic winter boots, while the OCSystem adds practical traction for ice.

Olang Kursk Tex with OCsystem. The perfect winter city boot. Buy now at ICEGRIPPER.

The Kursk TEX OC is another refined option and works well for customers wanting a boot that can move between city use, winter travel and resort environments without appearing overly technical.

For a more practical snow-boot profile, compare Stubai TEX OC, Pegaso TEX OC and Morfeo TEX OC.

If waterproof protection is the priority, the Montreal BTX OC should be high on the shortlist.

Are all Olang winter boots waterproof?

No. This is one of the most important distinctions in the Olang range.

Some models use Olang’s BTX waterproof construction. Meribel BTX OC and Montreal BTX OC are examples in the current ICEGRIPPER range.

Many other Olang boots use TEX or OlanTex water-resistant membranes. These are designed to provide useful protection in normal winter weather, but ICEGRIPPER does not describe them as fully waterproof.

This matters because the words “winter boot” and “snow boot” do not automatically mean waterproof. A customer expecting frequent exposure to rain, slush or standing water should normally prioritise a model explicitly described as waterproof.

You can read more in our water-resistant and waterproof footwear guide.

What is the Olang OCSystem?

Many Olang boots stocked by ICEGRIPPER use the OCSystem retractable ice grip built into the outsole.

The traction elements can be activated when extra grip is required on icy or compacted surfaces and folded back again when conditions change. This makes OCSystem footwear particularly convenient for journeys that move between icy pavements, cleared surfaces, public transport, shops and indoor environments.

That is quite different from a separate stretch-on ice grip, which normally has to be fitted and removed from the whole boot.

Another important advantage is that the OCSystem is serviceable. ICEGRIPPER stocks replacement OCSystem® cleats, activation keys and spare parts for a wide range of Olang footwear.

If you are unsure which fitting your boots use, our OCSystem® Reference Page can help identify the correct replacement component.

How important is care and reproofing?

Regular maintenance is worthwhile on both waterproof and water-resistant Olang boots.

On waterproof BTX models, keeping the outer leather, suede, nubuck or textile material clean and appropriately reproofed helps prevent surface saturation and supports the performance of the waterproof construction underneath.

On TEX/OlanTex models, care is even more important because the outer materials and water-resistant treatment form an important part of the boot’s ability to deal with wet winter conditions.

ICEGRIPPER recommends the Grangers Footwear Care Kit for routine cleaning and reproofing of suitable winter footwear.

This fits our wider approach of clean, care, repair and replace components where possible rather than treating winter footwear as disposable.
